A Crafter Called Jo

Do you wish you could turn your crafting hobby into a full time business?

Do you want craft to provide you with a steady and reliable income?

Do you want those around you to take your crafting more seriously?

If your answer is yes to any of the above then read on...

I was once where you are right now.

in 2012 I was crafting purely as a hobby and I loved it. When friends and family stated asking for custom orders I opened up a Facebook and Etsy store for my painted ceramics. It was at this time that I realised the potential that this could be a profitable business.

I had to learn quickly. I had no "standard" marketing or business management qualifications so I had to learn everything the hard way. There were a few books on the subject but as these were written before the rise of social media, I found they were already fairly out of date.

In 2014 I discovered a group on Facebook called "craft, craft and more craft". This is a fantastic network of online crafters where projects can be shown, feedback given and craft questions answered.

I started seeing the same questions being asked over and over again. These were the same questions that I had be asking only a few years before. It made me realise that there are so many incredibly talented crafts people that needed straight forward business advice, without the usual jargon that comes with it.

I decided to start writing a blog to help those who wanted to take their crafting from just a hobby to being a profitable business.

Today we Craft was born.

Since then I have worked with industry professionals to write clear, concise articles on everything from Tax to copyright legislation. I have also helped several small craft businesses improve their reach and profitability through 1-2-1 coaching and consultancy.
